Nintendo, in recent years, has significantly improved its efficiency in announcing and releasing games. Excluding "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom", many of the company's major software titles have been released within a few months of their initial announcement. However, the same cannot be said for "Metroid Prime 4".
Initially announced on June 13, 2017, the game's development was restarted exactly five years ago, as announced by Nintendo EPD's Shinya Takahashi on Nintendo's YouTube channel on January 25, 2019. Takahashi admitted that the development progress had not met the standards they sought for a "Metroid Prime" sequel. Nintendo always strives for the highest quality in its games, and if the quality is not satisfactory, the company will not release it to customers with confidence, as it will not meet fans' expectations.
Takahashi further announced that producer Kensuke Tanabe would collaborate with Retro Studios, the original development studio for the "Metroid Prime" trilogy. Previously, the game was reportedly being developed by Bandai Namco Studios, but Nintendo never officially confirmed this.
As of now, "Metroid Prime 4'"s release date is still to be announced. Many, including us, are speculating whether the game might be released for the Switch's successor. However, we will have to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo. Anytime now... Anytime... Hurry up, Nintendo.
